About

Hi! My name is Nicole Rix. I was born in Singapore, but I have lived most of my life in England. I am currently in my second year at Girton College, University of Cambridge studying Engineering. I first started tutoring my peers at the age of 14 in GCSE’s, to fund a fundraising trip to India in which I helped refurbish a school. From then on, I have tutored around 20 students who have gone on to achieve incredible results with some returning for further tutoring in A Level.

The thing that I find most rewarding about tutoring is the progress made by my students and the satisfaction when they achieve and even exceed the grades they desire. I hope to be able to continue helping students achieve their full potential and help them see how fulfilling it is to overcome difficult concepts, allowing them to enjoy Maths and Physics.

Experience

  • For the past two months, I have tutored (and managed) my own table at the Kumon centre in Wembley. This was for Maths and English up to GCSE
  • Have tutored several GCSE and A-level students for Maths, Physics and Economics. Take my latest student for example, who I am guiding through Microeconomics Year 13 content, whilst discussing current affairs with an economic perspective so as to nurture their genuine passion
  • I have created YouTube Tutorials in Maths and Economics whilst also posting on a Instagram ‘studygram’ account I created for Physics and Economics. Here I was able to simplify complex topics and relate them to every day life whilst making it enjoyable to learn.

About

Hey I’m Alok! When I’m not reading into Economics or Physics, I like following the Premier League as a proud Manchester United fan, even if that does end in agony most matches. In my spare time,

I enjoy walks in the park (sometimes whilst listening to music, but sometimes by just taking in nature’s song), this is usually when I think of my best ideas. I want to continue and develop as a tutor so I can help students master their subjects and so that they don’t make the same mistakes I did. I look forward to meeting you!

About

I grew up in Manchester then moved to London to study for my Chemistry degree at Imperial College, during which time I spent year at an industrial placement in Cambridge where I developed and tested corrosion inhibitors for the oil industry. I’m currently doing a PhD at Oxford University, working on designing and synthesising organic semiconductors for solar energy

I think that Chemistry is a great subject to study and tutor because it’s very diverse, covering physical Chemistry, which is mathematical and rigorous, as well as organic Chemistry which can be more intuitive and creative. I want to help students discover how rich and interesting Chemistry can be and prepare them for their exams so that they can tackle them with confidence.

About

Hi! I’m Neusha and I was born in London, but mostly grew up in Hertfordshire. Due to my love for all the Sciences, I struggled deciding between Medicine and Maths/Physics. In Year 12, I chose Medicine due to my love for the human side of the job. This year I received 4 medical school offers (as well as a Chemistry and Mathematics offer) and will be moving to London for UCL Medical School.

From the age of 8, I helped my mum at her Maths Tutoring Centre where I discovered my passion for teaching. From then onwards, I have taken on tutoring jobs alongside my studies and I’m excited to continue this at uni. I find it extremely gratifying helping students understand, and more importantly, enjoy subjects they once struggled with. I’m thrilled to meet new students and work with them to achieve what they once thought wasn’t possible.

About

Hey! My name is Aazan. I have grown up in London and have had a fascination with Mathematics since a young age. For instance, when I was 13, I created an online business that manipulated the changes in foreign currency to provide digital services at cheaper prices in the UK and Western Europe. I am currently progressing on to study Mathematics and Philosophy at Bristol as I am drawn to how it enriches abstract thinking while exposing me to a wide range of concepts.

My strength in tutoring comes from my ability to empathise highly with my students and better understand how they are thinking, which allows me to break down concepts in a tailored way. Furthermore, I believe in having strong professional relationships with my students as a safe learning environment is essential for optimal growth. In my free time I enjoy bouldering, MMA, writing poetry and exploring nature. I look forward to speaking to you and getting started on our Maths journey!

About

Hi there, my name is James and I’m an undergraduate student studying Biology at the University of Manchester. I live in Hertfordshire but am currently staying in Manchester whilst I complete 3 more years of my course. I chose Biology for my degree because I loved the subject as a whole, and studying Biology allows for a full exploration into all further specialisms such as marine and anatomical.

I’m fascinated with the human body and have decided to start specialising towards the immunity side of Biology. This choice has allowed me to study a broad range of topics within the subject and has given me the opportunity to find something I really enjoyed. This is why I think GCSE Biology is great, as it allows students the time to explore different parts of the subject and hopefully find what they enjoy most. My aim as a tutor is to help develop a passion in my students for Biology, whilst also giving them the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to convert this into the desired grade to hit Sixth Form or University grades. I hope to speak to you soon!
